I found this free Hello Kitty Hat pattern on the blog Crochet in Color (see below for link). I had extra Simply Soft yarn in all the necessary colors, and I knew a little girl whose birthday was coming up, so I started it right away. The pattern for the hat was simple and easy to follow. The making of all the facial features took longer than the making of the hat itself, not to mention all the ends to sew in afterwards. With only a day left, I decided to skip the face and just keep the ears, bow, and braids. The end result was the Hello Kitty Minimalist Hat.
